I love a good yarn, because I know good stories are the quickest & most effective way to make people care about what you do, what you stand for, why it’s important. I've spent 10 years as an ABC radio presenter in Australia, broadcasting more than 20,000 stories from diverse perspectives; from politicians to prisoners. I found my niche assisting others to confidently share their perspectives, stories and experiences to help find common ground. I now help individuals & organisations tell stories to create their own willing tribe of advocates.
Through my work I've found many people and organisations inadvertently restrict their best stories from being heard, affecting how their community interacts with, values and feels about them. To overcome this, I've developed a purpose-built process to help build the skills, knowledge and confidence people need to use their stories to create lasting change.
As a speaker, facilitator & MC I draw on the thousands of stories I've shared to demonstrate why good storytelling skills are critical along the path to influence and can change conversations from outrage to empathy and inspire collaboration over competition. I show audiences how to take the fear out of contributing to public conversations by unpacking authenticity, audiences and the science of emotion and vulnerability.
In 2016, I founded Healthy Tasmania Pty Ltd with my sister Lucy Byrne, an expert in community wide initiatives and health promotion. We've pooled our expertise and lead a range of programs and projects that support people to live the best live they can in communities that are thriving.
I had the incredible experience of being a Telstra Business Woman of the Year national finalist and was able to share my vision of a world where all people are equipped and able to share their perspectives, helping us better understand one another and the community we live in. You'll never find me far from a microphone, whether it’s in the studio, on the stage or with a guitar in hand!
