On 7th June 2021 the Supreme Court directed the Faridabad Municipal Corporation to clear the entire housing society of Khori Gaon because it was on ‘forest’ land. The Court has denied rehabilitation to the families living in this settlement. This has single-handedly destroyed the lives of 1,00,000 people and has pushed them to the streets WITHOUT rehabilitation. Most of the residents living here are working class migrants – who are already affected severely by the pandemic.

Various high-end hotel complexes exist right next to the settlement, yet they face no threat from the authorities, it's only the marginalized communities being selectively targeted.

The purpose of environmental justice is to tackle climate change and social inequalities.

Environmentalism cannot come at the cost of further oppressing marginalized communities.
