Pamela Ting is Co-Founder of SCENE SHANG with her schoolmate, Jessica Wong — friends and fellow purveyors of a forgotten craft. With a brilliant business acumen derived from Pamela’s former days in the banking trade and Jessica’s design know-how as a trained architect, SCENE SHANG, now based in Singapore, has flourished in their charge ever since.
Our wares, much like our founders, are inspired by real people with real stories and forged from an innate desire to create indelible memories that are both immersive and emotive.
THE BRAND
SCENE SHANG is a contemporary furniture label based in Singapore with roots firmly planted in a rich Asian heritage. Shaped to the semblance of 1930s Shanghai in all its former Art Deco glory, we look to an era replete with blooming exuberance and unapologetic luxuries.
THE WARES
Culture converges in the core of all that we do – from construction to curation – resulting in homeware concepts that run the gamut of tradition, ushering intrigue and delight to the senses.
Our aesthetic – an inspired blend of classic Chinese elements and modern day sensibilities that sit on the crossroads of East and West – lends itself to iconic pieces designed for the dwellings of today.
We work closely with traditional artisans from Asia to reimagine the silhouettes of yesteryear for the urban home, amassing in a trove of heirloom furniture and decorative fittings, each with its own story to tell.
No strangers to design circles within and beyond our borders, our concepts have gone on to earn their stripes across various honours; most notably our signature SHANG System – a modular storage system that attests to the hallmarks of Ming Dynasty design – with a special commendation in the President's Design Award (Singapore, 2014) and the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in Furniture, Decorative Items and Homeware Design (Italy, 2016) to its name. Our second collection, Jia Ju, was also showcased in the IFFS Design Stars (Singapore, 2016), joining the ranks of 20 up-and-coming designers from around the world.
