Verónica Aponte is a Latin-American Intermedia Artist born and raised in Caracas-Venezuela, living in San Diego, CA. She is Interested in Issues of Modernity , memory, and the misrepresentation of identity in a globalized and digitized world. Using historical geopolitics experiences, memories and the exploration of past avant-garde movements , Aponte uses Video-Film, Performance, Installation, painting, and more to approach issues of gender, urban and cultural identity. Within her practice, Aponte re-arrange ideas, objects, memorabilia, creating challenging installation/pieces, hoping her audience will feel and think beyond the apparent . Her most recent works are focus on cross borders art collaborations as a strategy to shorten her distance between the US and her native Venezuela.

She has a BFA in painting from the late Universitary Institute of High Studies in Fine Arts Armando Reverón “I.U.E.S.A.P.A.R.”in Caracas and a Intermedia MFA from Arizona State University (ASU)
