Hi, my name is Nancy and I am a Diabetes Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES). No longer referred to as CDE (Certified Diabetes Educator). I explain that every PWD that is referred to me for diabetes education. CDCESs , do educate, but we also motivate, empower and give hope and support to those living with diabetes from newly diagnosed to those who have diabetes for many years. have been a nurse for over 25 years , but have had the pleasure of working with PWDs , both type 1 and type 2. I also have had type 1 x 44 years. I (and 2 others) facilitate an on line support group for type 1 PWDs.
