I’m a musician by training and I moved to Florence in the 1980s to play the viola in the opera orchestra. But I changed tack and have been writing about Florence, Tuscany and all things Italian for the past 20 years.
I still live in Florence but travel extensively throughout Italy for both work and pleasure. I am a regular contributer to many British and US publications including The Telegraph (I am their Florence, Naples and Amalfi Coast expert), Condé Nast Traveller (and Traveler) and Travel & Leisure and lots more.
I haven’t completely abandoned music; I am the manager of Incontri in Terra di Siena, a wonderful classical music festival held each summer in the Val d’Orcia.
My favourite place on earth? Connemara in the west of Ireland.
