Founder & CEO, Harriett’s Daughters, Inc.💜
There is perhaps nothing more gratifying than being at the nexus of profession and purpose. As the founder of Harriett’s Daughters, a 501(c)(3) committed to meeting the unique needs of girls who have lost their mothers to cancer, or whose mothers are dying from cancer, I’m fortunate to be at that juncture.
Over the last 15+ years, I have worked as a teen program facilitator, workshop instructor, program director, community development coordinator, and an elementary, middle, and high school counselor. Each of those roles helped me develop a set of transferrable skills, including an understanding of the basic operations of a nonprofit.
I’ve been successful because:
🙏🏾 I thrive on encouraging, motivating, and propelling people forward
💫 I excel at collecting, analyzing, and disseminating information
🧩 I love to solve problems and make the puzzle pieces fit together
🙌🏾 I pull diverse teams together to coordinate programs effectively
🗣 I enjoy planning and delivering presentations
🚨 I manage crisis situations efficiently
Whether I’m designing a new program, improving an existing initiative, or working with a team to reach a shared goal, my approach to getting the job done centers on resourcefulness. I produce quality, maximize effort, and boost impact because I use resources that other people don’t think to use. I gather information in unconventional ways, brainstorm new ways to solve old problems, and work tirelessly to produce something I’m proud of.
I’ve been described as a “woman of integrity” who is focused, resilient, and committed to excellence. I like to think that I’m fun to work with and thrive in positions where I can make a real and lasting difference in the lives of people around me.
