Sandeep Maharjan on Clubhouse

Bio

Sandeep is a musician giving equal priority to both Eastern and Western music, his major instruments are western drum, madal, tabla and cajon. He also plays most of the newa skin instruments including dhime, khin, dha, nayo khin. As well as other percussion like cangoo, djembe, dholak, concert flute, harmonica etc.
He joined the bachelor program in ethnomusicology at Kathmandu university. He believes to expand his musical horizon with the help of academic studies at KU and his experiences working with different bands
Sandeep strives to incorporate Newa percussion with khas and other traditional bols rhythms of Nepal. He is unafraid to use western and/or other instruments including non musical instruments to experiment with these Nepali traditional rhythms to produce contemporary music. He also aims to use traditional Nepali percussion to portray the modern day soundscape
