Bio

Born in İstanbul and graduated from İstanbul University with a degree in Literature. Became a jazz fan through radio shows of Erol Pekcan, Hülya Tunçağ and Teoman Baber on TRT3 Radio. She's been married to jazz guitarist Önder Focan since 1986, they have a son. She was one of the founders of the Jazz Association in 1991, first being the vice-president then becoming the president for two years. She was the editor in chief of Turkey's first and only jazz, blues and improvised music magazine JAZZ between 1996-2016, published by Boyut Yayın Grubu. She hosted the radio show 'Caz Vitrini' on Açık Radyo, Yapı Radyo, Radyo 92.3 and at TRT Radio 3. Then she hosted the radio show 'En Yeniler' on the internet radio Joy Jazz. She opened the jazz club Nardis in İstanbul, Galata in 2002 and has been running Nardis since then. She's the editor in chief of jazzdergisi.com since April 2016.
