Nakikia A. Wilson aka “CoachKeepItMoving” is a native of Kinston, North Carolina, now living in Durham with 3 children. She is a graduate of Winston-Salem State University where she earned her B. A. Degree in Radio & Television Broadcast. She worked for ABC 45 in Winston-Salem, NC & WB 22 in Raleigh, NC as a Technical Director for broadcast news. After several years in the broadcast television industry, Nakikia realized her passion was in healthcare education and advocacy.
Nakikia earned her Master’s degree in Health Services Administration from Strayer University. Armed with a graduate education and a passion to utilized what she learned, she obtained positions with organizations, such PriceWaterHouseCoopers, Mamsi Health Plans, United Healthcare, Humana and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina gaining extensive experience to promote healthcare literacy and understanding in the community.
Currently, Nakikia is employed with the Department of Veteran Affairs as a Certified Advanced Medical Support Assistant helping Veterans coordinate health and wellness services at the Durham VA Medical Center and in the community. She is also certified as an Emotional Support Trainer and Facilitator through the Community Healing Network. In addition, she is also a certified as an Emotional Intelligence and Life Coach and Mental Health Awareness Advocate. She is the Founder and President of K.I.M. (Keep It Moving) 4U, Inc. with an organizational mission is to empower the community through awareness, education, advocacy and supportive services that aid in the understanding of prevention or management of mental illness and chronic diseases.
On April 4, 2011, Nakikia was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis followed by diagnoses with Anxiety, Panic Attack Disorder, ADD and PTSD. She has since dedicated herself to raising awareness, providing education, advocacy and supportive services to the community about Multiple Sclerosis, Mental Illness and other chronic diseases.
Nakikia is a member of nonprofit organizations Delta Sigma Theta, Inc., The Greater Eastern North Carolina Chapter of the National MS Society, The Community Healing Network and The National Patient Advocate Association. She continues to serve her community as a Mental Health Education and Awareness Advocate dispelling stigmas surrounding Mental illness.
