Kerala motor vehicles department popularly known by the acronym MVD, is a line department of Kerala State vested with the responsibility of assuring road safety and efficient mobility by implementing provisions of MV Act and rules. Formed in 1958,it actively promotes greener transportation means and sustainable mobility solutions. It also runs the Safe Kerala Project, an predominantly enforcement initiative, with the brief to reduce road crashes, related injuries and fatalities in the state by 25% by the year 2024.
