Megha Tata
Managing Director, South Asia – Discovery, Inc.
Megha Tata is a media industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience across leading entertainment businesses. She leads multiple national as well as international industry forums, co-opted as the Director on board of Indian Broadcasting Foundation, an esteemed member of Entertainment Committee of FICCI, and is also the second woman to ever become the President of the India Chapter of the International Advertising Association.
She was appointed Managing Director of South Asia for Discovery in April 2019 and oversees Discovery’s strategic direction across the region, spanning linear, DTC and digital operations. Megha has been instrumental in launching several marquee projects for the network in India, including the successful and award-winning Man vs Wild episode with Bear Grylls and Prime Minister Modi as well as the local launch of streaming service discovery+, now India’s largest aggregated real-life infotainment OTT service. Under her leadership, Discovery has also increased its production of local Indian content, with discovery+ launching a slew of exciting originals, including the critically acclaimed 'Into the Wild with Bear Grylls’ episodes with Rajnikanth and Akshay Kumar.
Her knowledge and deep-rooted understanding of the business have aided the network to achieve new heights in the animation genre with Discovery Kids smart strategy and marquee content line-up for the Indian audience. Rebranding Discovery’s sports channel - Eurosport in March 2020 is a journey that's worth a lot of learnings. From, a difficult initial few month when LIVE sports had come to a standstill to now completing a year, Eurosport is well and truly on its way to carving a niche for itself, under her leadership.
Recognized amongst the top 50 influential women in media, marketing and advertising, Megha currently is a mentor to emerging media talent and is actively involved in several initiatives, which includes being a passionate volunteer with the Isha Foundation. Prior to Discovery, Megha held leadership roles at BTVI, HBO, Turner International and Star TV.
