My story
My parents were divorced by the time I was 4 years old because my father got caught cheating. My parents split custody. My father remarried and lived a traditional American life style that included the 3 D’s: Drugs, Debt and Divorce! He was interested in burying pain. My mother was searching for answers and digging deep. My entire childhood she was following a Guru named Osho. I was shuffled back and forth between them, from “normal” to far from it, lol. My mom moved wherever she was led. As a child, it was confusing and amazing all at the same time. I was introduced to many different cultures, types of people, meditation styles, mindfulness practices and along with an early introduction to the adult world!
2 months after my 16th birthday, I dropped out of high school. 3 months later, I was a college freshman. 2 months after that, I was pregnant by my abusive boxer boyfriend. 8 months later I was a mother of twins. By the time the twins were 5 months old, we were living in a homeless shelter.
When the twins were 6 months old, we moved to San Diego and I have been here ever since. I finished my GED that year. Before the time the twins turned 3, their bio dad got his first felony. By the time the twins were 4, I finished my first degree in psychology. I went from welfare recipient to helping others towards self-sufficiency.
When the twins were 8, I married a strong, amazing man. He became their dad and we had 2 more. When the twins were 10, I bought a baby resale store. By the time the twins were 12, I closed the store and moved to selling online. Later, I went back to school and became a Registered Nurse, the same year the twins graduated high school, 2011.
I have special interest in mindfulness, meditation, motherhood and the teenage brain.
More to come...
