As Founder & Executive Director of the TEACH Coalition, Maury Litwack has grown the organization from a single staffer to a multi-state network responsible for billions of dollars in new state funding to non-public schools. He leads TEACH’s advocacy on every issue of import for schools and families: tuition subsidies, STEM advancement, health and nutrition programs and the priority issue of school safety. Today TEACH is hundreds of schools strong and counts a national core of thousands of engaged parent and student activists to deliver their message to elected officials and candidates both at the statehouse and back home.
A sought-after expert in lobbying and education, Litwack is a go-to source for journalists. His work has generated coverage across the media landscape, from New York Times and Wall Street Journal to Hamodia and Mishpacha, where he is the subject of a recent cover story. Litwack was named to New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy’s transition team and in 2020 to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Interfaith Advisory Council. In 2020, Litwack was recognized for his outstanding work in advocacy by Insider NJ magazine’s “Insider 100: Policymakers” list, as well as being named to City & State’s “Education 100” and “Responsible 100” publications – the magazine’s annual lists of the 100 most influential people in New York State’s education policy and public policy arenas.
Prior to his work at Teach, Litwack was a federal affairs lobbyist for Miami-Dade, the sixth largest county in the nation. He also served as a legislative staffer in the United States Congress, specializing in foreign affairs and education policy.
