Bio

I am a student of film and video and a writer. In 2012 I was one of 4,000 teachers laid off in the district where I had worked for 10 years as an English teacher.

By 2013, I was living in my car. That’s when I became introduced to what is called a street paper. I started writing for it and sold it pay for gas in my car and eventually a hotel room.

A decade later, I am starting my own magazine. It is called The Fringe and will be published and edited by me.

Unlike the typical street paper, this will only include writers who have experienced living unhoused.

Since Earth Day is celebrated in Spring, this edition is dedicated to Earth Day. Who knows better about living on earth than those who have lived closest to it.

The five wonderful authors of this edition offer insights and inspiration not only of survival, but, more importantly, extreme gratitude for how the Mother Earth has provided shelter for them in the the absence of what we know as housing.
