How I help the black community push forward:
🔹 Technical Director @ Lightship Capital. I evaluate the tech ecosystem and engineering leadership infrastructure of minority-owned early-stage startups and emerging company investments and identifies the right configuration for success.
🔹 Owner @ NextSteps DevCon - NextSteps DevCon is a three-day virtual conference featuring technology’s most influential minds from startups to leading fortune 500 companies. An interactive, virtual 3-day conference featuring multiple sessions. Day-1 focuses on "Getting started in Engineering." Day-2 focuses on helping current engineers to skill up & scale-up. Day-3 focuses on "Engineers transitioning to Entrepreneurship." The audience is 50% black.
🔹 Creator @ Udacity Pledge to Equality - A scholarship program to help close the Black community's skills gap and increase diversity in tech companies by creating a pipeline of qualified candidates in desirable fields such as Machine Learning, Programming, and Data Science.
🔹 Former Manager @ TalentPath by Treehouse is an 8-10mo boot camp that exposes minorities to coding using the Treehouse online platform and a rigorous, curated study program called Treehouse Techdegree. Graduates are then placed onsite as apprentices to full-time employees of the company that sponsored their Techdegree, establishing a mentorship model with proven morale-boosting effects for all parties and a sustainable path to onboarding junior developers. Side note: When I joined, 20% of the cohort was on track to finish. 80% graduated under my tenure! Stop playing w/ me! Lol
