For me, recruitment is so much more than an HR check list. Only by sitting down with someone and looking them in the eye can you truly find out who they are, what excites them, what scares them and most importantly, what they want. Understanding these things is critical to making a sound judgement on whether a person has the competencies, skills and mindset for the position I am hiring for.
Everyone is different and has their own story, which makes my job so interesting! Recruitment tools such as CV's and psychometric tests, though important, will rarely compensate for direct interaction: As the cliché goes, "people buy from people", and I truly believe that every interaction is an opportunity - to listen, observe, learn, question, challenge and be challenged.
I thrive on recognising potential in people, helping them to unlock opportunities and watching them grow. I take pride in, and am humbled by, seeing people that I have helped on their career journeys, now employed as leaders in their field, laying the foundations for others to follow in their footsteps.
Ultimately, the proof is in the pudding: My experience has taught me that by building and developing a strong and robust recruitment process, that is collaborative and agile, vastly improves talent attraction, retention and engagement, which should be the goal of any company.
