In 1989, Spice formed an All--female band called the "Nasty Girls", later
transitioning into DC first Co-Ed band, Nasty Band, then Nasty Gang in 1991,
featuring an All-female front line and male back line. Nasty often opened up
for one of Spice's closet mentors in the Go-Go community, Chuck Brown, and
has shared the stage with many successful DC bread Go-Go groups to
include the Backyard Band, Noth East Groovers and a plethora of others.
Nasty later disbanded in 1998, with the core of its members venturing into
other pursuits.
In 1998, Ms.Spice was coined as "Mackmomma" from her innate ability to
adapt in any environment. Whether lead talking on a Go-Go set, spittin versus
in Rap or Hip Hop, or "toasting" in a Reggae setting, the "Mackmomma" could
mesmerize the audience with an electrifying performance befitting of the
genre. According to Spice, the word Mackmomma also describes a driven
woman who is willing to fight to get what she deserves.
In 1999, Spice formed another powerhouse, co-ed band called Malenium,
which obtained much success to include performing at the esteemed Black
Cat in DC before disbanding in 2002. Still never quitting, Spice formed yet
another group, but this time within the Hip Hop/Rap community: DC Rap Diva's. This all female conglomerate of lyrical assassins Spice had assembled went on to perform with the likes of Slim Thug and David Banner, amongst many others, performing at Basketball Half Time Shows, private and open mic events. To add to her accomplishments, Spice also started to DeeJay (DJ) within all the aforementioned genre's from the early 2000's to date.
On September 2, 2020, Spice reconnected with a few Nasty Band/Nasty Gang original core members to present "Nasty Reloaded 5.0". The band is still Co-ed, but has diversified its sound to mesh Hip Hop, R&B, Funk and R&B with Go-Go which she calls "Go-Go Matzz (pronounced matazz). The group is currently working on their upcoming project in the studio to be released in the forthcoming months with a few surprises.
