In 1997 he founded The LoveLife Foundation in honor of his 16 year old daughter who was murdered, an innocent bystander to a shooting. The work of the LoveLife Foundation was proclaimed from the floor of Congress by Congresswoman Barbara Lee. www.lovelifefoundation.org
In 2016 the Oakland City Council adopted Love Life as the official motto of the City of Oakland. Every Entering Oakland sign bears the words: βLove Lifeβ to honor Donaldβs daughter and all victims of violence.
On May 19th 2019, CNN aired a 1 hour special The Redemption Project with Van Jones documenting Donaldβs anti violence activism in Oakland, Ca and his journey to forgive the 1 man convicted of his daughterβs murder.

Mr. Lacy entertained the troops on a Far East tour that included; Japan, Okinawa, Korea, Singapore, & Diego Garcia. He has headlined clubs from Chicago, to Kaiserslautern Germany.
