Lisa George is a Community Activist. The District Manager for State Senator James Sanders Jr., an award-winning certified health, wellness, and fitness instructor, President of The Heart of Rockaway (THOR) Civic Association, an active member of St. John’s Baptist Church in Far Rockaway, NY, a dedicated mother and daughter of a retired union member.

Just as during Super Storm Sandy and now during the COVID-19 pandemic, Lisa organizes food distributions for the elderly, essential workers, and others in need. She works with various organizations to distribute food to hundreds in need each week.
Just as during Super Storm Sandy and now during the COVID-19 pandemic, Lisa established, led, and taught health and wellness classes to help people deal with mental and physical stress.
Lisa supported the Prevent Drownings in the Rockaways Initiative by pushing for legislation (Senate Bill S7661) to support swim safety in public schools, and she advocated to create swim and water safety education initiatives across the city.
Lisa assists homeowners in securing funds to elevate their homes to meet new flood zoning requirements.
As a PTA president and education activist, Lisa led the successful effort to save her son’s school from closure. She started and health, fitness, and wellness programs in schools to combat child obesity.
Lisa led the effort to address neglected NYCHA repairs and other housing-related issues.
She organizes trainings and seminars for women’s initiatives in business, health, and safety.
Lisa is an activist for sustainable housing for seniors and working-class families.
