Mom of 4 | Singer | Post(Ex)Mormon
I grew up Mormon and took it very seriously. And I made all my major life decisions based on the religious teachings of it.
Got married at 20, started having kids right away. I was promised my whole life that that was my purpose, and that God would help me. 12 years later, I’ve questioned every belief I’ve ever had and had to start most things from square one.
Now I’m just trying to live my life free of anyone else’s dogma or doctrine and figure out what the hell that even looks like.
But I really believe that my life has just begun. And I have 3 daughters who are looking to me as an example. I want to show them that they don’t have to put up with or settle for patriarchy, that they can be the authors of their lives, and that the journey of loving themselves for who they are is the most important one they can take—not just being defined by whether they’re married or have kids.
For me, that’s exploring singing and the relationship between somatic practices and healing trauma.
I can’t wait to see where my journey takes me.
