Liliet Rosa Reyes was born (July 1991) and raised in a little town in the eastern part of Cuba. Her upbringing gave her a particular way of seeing art, growing up in a very large and colorful Caribbean family that led her to pursuing visual arts, using analog photography as her preferred medium.
During her late teens and early twenties she exhibited her work in several galleries in Havana while working odd photography jobs from night clubs to private power parties.
Moving to New York City in 2013 awakened Reyes's curiosity as to how different cultures interact in the same place. She started creating portraits that capture the essence of a time of great change.
She runs Cifarra, an independent production company and creative agency funded to give voice and power to the many absent perspectives in mainstream media; while continuing to exhibit in communal and commercial galleries like this 5 Points, ArtBasel, Consul 81 and UCF School of Visual Arts and Design.
