As a seasoned Speaker and Researcher, I am driven by a deep passion for sharing my knowledge and experience to effectuate meaningful change in the world. My focus on young people has taken me worldwide, delivering talks on various topics, including suicide stigma, suicide attempt survivors, suicide awareness, self-growth, mental health, youth development, and suicide prevention.
My expertise in these areas comes from a strong commitment to promoting mental health and supporting individuals navigating life's challenges. As someone personally affected by suicide, I understand the importance of creating awareness and reducing stigma to prevent further tragedies.
Through my research and public speaking, I aim to inspire young people to take charge of their mental health and equip them with the tools they need to lead fulfilling lives. Whether working with schools, organizations, or individuals, I promote positive change and foster a culture of acceptance, growth, and hope.
If you're seeking a passionate and knowledgeable speaker or researcher on mental health, suicide prevention, or youth development, please do not hesitate to contact me. Together, we can create a world where young people thrive and grow.
In 1998, my life was forever changed when my 3-year-old sister was killed in a hit-and-run accident while walking home from the park. This tragedy led me to share suicidal thoughts from a young age. However, as a child growing up in a black southern religious family, discussing mental health or suicide was considered taboo.
After surviving multiple suicide attempts, I decided to take action and founded WAF (We Are Finesse) in May 2019. The organization's mission is to combat the deeply ingrained stigmas surrounding suicide and mental health in our communities and culture, particularly among young people. WAF aims to provide support and facilitate conversations that were previously silenced.
As the organization celebrates its fifth year of impactful global work, I am grateful for the contributions of everyone who has helped make WAF possible. Moving forward, WAF plans to continue breaking down barriers and making strides in mental health advocacy, meeting people where they are, and encouraging open, honest dialogue.
