Dmitry Lvovich Smirnov – the founder of the Legal Boutique “SDL” and the Managing Partner.
Dmitry graduated from the department of international relations of Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) of the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Russia in 2002 (with knowledge of Khmer (Cambodian) and English languages). In 2004 Dmitry was conferred an LL.M degree (cum laude) by the European Law Institute of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. Dmitry is a life member of Clare Hall College of the University of Cambridge since 2006. He is the author of numerous publications on various issues of international law, European law and civil law.
Dmitry is a highly qualified specialist not only in disputes resolution, but also in various projects in the area of mergers and acquisitions, contractual work, joint ventures, corporate governance and internal control procedures, due diligence projects, and corporate restructuring.
He has years of experience in leading law firms. In particular, he held the position of Senior Associate in Monastyrsky, Zyuba and Partners law firm, the Moscow office of Baker Botts LLP, Senior Associate in Muranov, Chernyakov and Partners law firm, was the head of International Practice at SAMETA law firm.
Dmitry has been successfully working with Russian and foreign clients, such as: the Russian Federation (represented by the Ministry of Justice); OAO NK Rosneft, OAO FGC UES, OAO Gazprom, OAO Gazprombank, Nornickel, KM-Invest, Fortum, ORICA Mining Services, EBRD, Marshall Capital Partners, Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan (Kazakhstan) and NBK-Bank (Moscow), GMAC, EFES, “Basic Element” group of companies, Nerl, OAO Rostelecom, Georgian Glass and Mineral Water Co. N.V., Salford Ltd., Microsoft, Vietnamese State Equipment Assembly Corporation, etc.
Dmitry is fluent in English. He also studied German and Cambodian.
