Author, art, comic book...design guy?
I’ve had an odd existence from day one. The son of a truck driver, I grew up cris crossing the country every summer from age four to ten. In those years my parents divorced, I lived with my grandparents, watched my mom work multiple jobs, educate herself and grow her knowledge in order to land a job she wasn’t qualified for on paper. So from an early age I learned two very important lessons-that hard work on the grind gets you ahead, and people are really very similar when you get past the superficial stuff.
I wanted to make a living making comics since I was ten. It took years of work but at 31 I was able to publish my first graphic novel that went on to be named IGN’s Graphic Novel of the year. I want to talk about the reality of what it took to achieve that. I want to talk to other people who followed their passions, embracing the suck head on.
