After graduating from Central Saint Martin’s in London, Laura Theiss developed a bold signature style, recreating traditional crochet and knitting stitches, designing fantastically original pieces for her own label and international clients.
Each collection is an individual and imaginative story that is told through the crafted pieces. Theiss started to learn craft from the age of seven. Experimental and innovative, Theiss’ designs infuse her heritage with the advanced technologies of today.
The craft of knitwear is kept alive through Theiss’s signature crochet late pieces, plated cable knots and 3D pattern. Working closely with high-tech Italian company Bond Factory she has designed new cutting-edge process such laser-cutting, seamless technology and 3D printing on knitwear.
Theiss has been recognized as one of the most exciting knitwear designers of our time. “Maglifico! 50 years of Extraordinary Knitwear” , “Fashion Knitwear” by Jenny Udale (Laurence King).
In a last few years Theiss has diversified her practice working as a costume designer , creating pieces for Choreographers Marguerite Donlon and Stijn Celis.
In 2013, along with some of the worlds most influential designers and artists, Theiss was asked to create a mask by „Elephant Family“ for their fundraising event „The Animal Ball“, where she met HRH Prince Charles. Laura created a purple statement butterfly mask in her known crochet style which was then auctioned at Sotheby’s-London with the proceeds going to charity.
