Fly caster and tier.
Grew up on the Thornapple River in Southwest Michigan fishing mostly for warm water species. Bass became my fish of choice because the good trout waters were too far away to ride my bike.
With a hand-me-down 9' fiberglass fly rod at age 10, I have upgraded several times in the last 40ish years. Though I no longer wheel fiberglass, I have a range of TFO and Orvis rods from 4# to 9# in 2-handed and Spey.
Living in Michigan spoils us with great fishing all year. Salmon in the fall, Steelhead and some trout through the winter, trout in the spring time with a touch of Steelhead. Once the water starts to warm we change our attention to what Michigan is very well known for, Smallmouth Bass. Between the Thornapple, the Grand, and the Muskegon rivers, there is never an end to the possibilities of 20"+ Smallmouth.
