Kristin Burns is driven to record the world. “I have to capture it. It’s an addiction”—one that’s not only serving her, but the many rock stars, pop bands and corporate clients who benefit from her keen eye, and her refined ability to capture one hell of an image.
Burns is truly bi-coastal, growing up on both coasts and crossing back and forth in VW busses and sometimes exotic make-shift moving vehicles.
Soon after high school, Burns headed west to attend Pasadena’s esteemed Art Center College of Design where she quickly established herself as a major photographic force, and graduated with distinction in 2004.
After Art Center, Burns hit the ground running, making a name for herself in the fiercely competitive world of rock-n-roll photography. Known for her kickass portraiture, and down-n-dirty styling, she has shot and toured with Placebo, Soulja Boy, Rob Zombie, Dave Stewart, Stevie Nicks, Mick Jagger, Duran Duran, Brian Wilson, Jessica Simpson, the Smashing Pumpkins and lots, lots more.
Now settled in the Topanga Canyon with her daughter, their cat, Burns shuttles back and forth between New York and Los Angeles, shooting campaigns for Weight Watchers, Eucrisa, Quick Books, the Jessica Simpson Collection, as well as corporate and advertising clients that include Netflix, Nike, MSN, Universal, Guitar Hero, AOL Music, Sony BMG, LA Marathon, Vidal Sassoon, Geffen Records, Virgin Records and Warner Brothers Records. Her photographs have appeared in Urb, Teen, Anthem, Filter, Swindle, Rolling Stone, Marie Claire, Women’s Wear Daily and Italian Vogue.
