Bio

Hi, myself Kralkoor (Er Saima Shafi) who came up with the concept of revival of pottery in Kashmir and is the only/first female engineer potter in the valley, with first and only modern pottery studio in Kashmir. I am Civil Engineer graduate from SSM college Pattan (Kashmir University) and postgraduate with MBA infrastructure and Finance from Panjab University Chandigarh. I am Junior Engineer in J&K PWD SINCE 2012. I learnt Pottery from Bangalore in 2018-19 to fight out my mental health issues like depression.I never knew my hobby will turn into passion until i visited different places in kashmir which were earlier famous for pottery like Gof kral , Chararsharief, zevan , ishbar Nishat etc and found alot has to be done for the revival and social taboos like caste factors, economic issues and woman cannot do pottery needs to be corrected. I decided to take the step to make these issues around pottery sector a history.I became the first potter from my dynasty and works for the revival of pottery (dying heritage ) of Kashmir, involving women in pottery and ending the social taboos associated with pottery. I am internationally and nationally published artist who is popularly known as KRALKOOR of Kashmir.
