Star Durable Pads was launched in April 2017 as a social enterprise project in response to an urgent need for menstrual products for girls and women in Uganda. Many girls and women lack access or are unable to afford menstrual products, and are left with no option but to leave school or work. Many have to resort to using unhygienic or uncomfortable items like rags to manage their menstruation. Therefore the initiative of star durable pads was aimed at breaking down this barrier to women’s prosperity, education and empowerment because they are reusable and affordable pads.
