Uketamo, I accept: the philosophy of the Haguro Yamabushi. This is what I most wish to share with the world. I have been through what most would consider a disproportionate amount of struggle. However, I’m still standing, and I’m content. I put this down to living the philosophy of uketamo. Read on to learn more.

Yamabushi are ascetic monks who practice the ancient way of Shugendo, a mixture of Buddhism, Shintoism, Taoism, and ancient Japanese nature worship. ⛩🗻

For over 1400 years, Yamabushi have been training on the Dewa Sanzan mountains in Yamagata to reconnect with nature, and reconnect with themselves. And for the first time ever, this ancient training is available in English.
