Not everything is black and white, otherwise I've been living in the void of greyscale
Pains is my strength, ignite red, yellow and green
I finally see the colours other than black and white

This is the first time I am able to share my story of recovery from trauma and a journey to adulthood.

I don’t go to therapy to find out if I’m a freak
I go and I find the one and only answer every week
And when I talk about therapy, I know what people think
That it only makes you selfish and in love with your shrink
But, oh how I loved everyone else

"As a child, I was physically and sexually abused. As an adult, I was sexually assaulted."

I always knew that saying these words aloud would bring forth so many more concerns and worries. "What if no one believes me?" Instead, I thought, what if I just bury everything deep down and pretend it isn't happening? I can act as long as I could, and nobody needs to know anything about it. I can just forge an identity that I can falsely live in for many years.

Writing has becoming a process for me to identify the extensive vocabulary and psychological term to my feeling. Now I'm thriving as a human 💜

I don't usually share my story of recovery from trauma and a journey to adulthood. Because of that openness and compassionate willingness to listen that CH provided and be interested in a deeply wounded human being, what made me comfortable and safe enough to share my story.

All experiences in my work as paracounselor and hiv program manager play a significant part in my interpersonal socialisation, function as social control mechanisms, maintain personal identity, reflect my concern for others, and provide channels for processing stress or norm violation into self-punishment.
