BIO: Kat Vellos is the author of “We Should Get Together: The Secret to Cultivating Better Friendships” and its short addendum, “Connected from Afar: A Guide for Staying Close When You're Far Away.” Her background is in user experience design, and she’s now a speaker, educator, and facilitator who helps others transform disconnection and platonic longing into authentic connection and fulfilling friendship.

After spending years as a designer and researcher at Slack, Pandora and multiple startups, Kat turned her sights towards designing better experiences for people’s lives. In her first book, We Should Get Together, she used her expertise in research and experience design to help people cultivate more fulfilling friendships. The book’s addendum, Connected from Afar, gives readers six months of weekly activities they can use to feel closer to faraway friends.

Kat is a prolific speaker who has graced the stages of TEDx, San Francisco Design Week, Design for America, Lesbians Who Tech, the Transforming Loneliness Summit, Rosenfeld Media’s DesignOps Summit and many more.
