A creative and restless mind Jurriaan began his foray into independent magazines with almost no knowledge of the publishing industry in the early 2000s, quickly establishing himself and his magazines as household names. His first online magazine for EDM in the Netherlands was the aptly named www.partyscene.nl. Understanding the difficulties of navigating the industry Jurriaan started the Belangen Vereniging Dance, a groundbreaking organization that provided the EDM community with support in matters such as tax income for DJs, safety and security training, contracts, artists’ rights and so forth.

Always pushing boundaries and seeking to create a space where different art forms could coexist BLEND magazine was born that very year followed by ILOVEFAKE magazine. Both printed publications engaged with fashion, art & photography. What had started out as a small Dutch magazine distributed in the Netherlands, became quickly an international magazine distributed worldwide. To launch the two magazines Jurriaan came up with an ingenious strategic solution, which was later picked up both nationally and internationally, and was known as the “The Blend Guerrilla Stores.” BLEND’s idea was to create a three-dimensional magazine, which one could hear, touch, buy, walk into and even take part of. And so the first pop-up store in the Netherlands— “60 DAYS OF SPACE”— was born. Jurriaan’s insights and creativity helped many emerging designers start their careers, it was only logical that the next step would be helping established brands.

Thus, BLEND\BUREAUX was born. This young and dynamic digital and print creative agency has already produced buzz-worthy brand activations for brands like CHANEL, Puma, Reebok, G-STAR, Levi’s, Maison Margiela, Bacardi, Warsteiner, Bugaboo, Renault, Essent, ABSOLUT, CitizenM, Wrangler, Heineken, SONY Playstation and many more.
