A friend urged me to ask
For grace and mercy
Instead of asking “why”
To ask for forgiveness
And put my attention
Behind my eyes
It seemed impossible to,
As she suggested,
Recieve mercy or grace,
In this lonely,
Broken, and seemingly
Forsaken place.
Why ask for anything
After so many
Unanswered pleas
But I thought the words silently
Until they became whispers
That I could speak
When I asked for grace and mercy
Small miracles began to show
In my life, all around me,
And then they seemed to grow.
The miracles didn’t change in size
Only my perspective had shifted
Instead of focusing on the negative
My surroundings were being sifted
Miracles were there all along
Even in the dark
And lonely place
The real miracle occured when I decided
To accept the gift of grace.
