I am Muslim first, Alhamdulillah!!!
Racism is a problem in many societies.
It has been a longstanding cause of much trouble and suffering among humans for centuries.
Our beloved Prophet (ﷺ) came with a message of racial equality, so there is no room for racism in Islam.
No race is par excellence better than another in the sight of Allah.
The criteria that decide who is the best in the sight of Allah is one's piety.
Allah the Almighty said:
“O mankind! We created you from a male and a female and made you into peoples and tribes so that you may know one another. Surely the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous among you. Allah is truly All-Knowing, All-Aware." (Quran 49:13)
And the Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“ O People! Verily your Lord is One, and your father (i.e., Adam) is one. There is no superiority for an Arab over a non-Arab, nor for a non-Arab over an Arab. Neither is the white superior over the black nor is the black superior over the white except by piety." (Musnad Ahmad 23489)
So how can a Muslim knowing all of this be a racist?
Sadly racism and tribalism are widespread among some Muslims.
And this leads them to look down on others based on their color or background.
So racism, as you can see, is pure evil and leads to many grave major sins such as; arrogance, oppression, hatred, even murder, etc.
We ask Allah to purify us from racism and let us be brothers and sisters in faith. Amin!!!
