International human rights lawyer, social entrepreneur. Brown University alum of the year (William Rogers Award). Chair, Open Source Pharma Foundation. Formerly Senior Fellow, Harvard Global Health Institute, and Visiting Scientist, Harvard School of Public Health. OSPF seeks to create an open source paradigm for pharma R&D, and medicine and vaccines for all, with a focus on respiratory infectious pandemics (TB and Covid-19) , and universal open source vaccines for humanity. Co-founder of The India Nutrition Initiative, which is developing salt double-fortified with iron and iodine (“DFS”), to help address the world’s the most widespread form of malnutrition DFS has been included in billions of meals to date, and has reduced iron deficiency at population scale. Previously led the international development program at the X PRIZE Foundation, an innovation group dedicated to achieving "radical breakthroughs for the benefit of humanity." As a human rights lawyer at the New York City-based Center for Constitutional Rights, had a victories in high profile cases. Represented student leaders of Tiananmen Square against the ex-Premier of China, helped win a $4 billion judgment on behalf of victims of the Bosnian genocide, freed a man from death row in Indiana, helped represent the family of executed Nigerian environmental activist Ken Saro-Wiwa against Royal Dutch Shell ($15M settlement), and hunted through the prisons of New York for the real killer to help free an innocent man (David Wong) serving life for murder, as the 15th lawyer to take up the case. As a scholar, have written articles in leading international human rights law journals and reference books. Also co-founded a tech company with seven-figure revenues and worked as a strategist at McKinsey. Published creative writer.
