Jackie Klein on Clubhouse

Bio

Jackie Klein is a painter and printmaker based in NY. Her early, atelier style training is evident in her interest in light, reflections, and figuration. She graduated with a BA in Visual Arts from Columbia University in 2019. There she explored the symbolist concept of making the invisible visible–working with magical, dreamlike elements and utilizing symbols to express her interior world. There is a romantic, almost cinematic quality to her work that embodies a sentimentality for the ordinary. Before she called herself an artist, Jackie grew up as a dedicated ballet dancer. She learned how performance allows for both performers and audience members to be momentarily transported to another reality. She hopes to achieve the same immersive effect with her artwork and to put emphasis on what is small but important.
