❤️ I want to share my love for the recorder with you so that you can express your heart through the beauty of music.

Having grown up in a musical household, gone to a competitive college where I was known as the professor’s daughter, graduated from a prestigious university music program, and played professionally for over 20 years (including playing with members of the LA Phil in the Disney Hall), music for me was often filled with pressure. I ended up walking away from music as a career.
After a number of years working in other fields, I realized how much I missed having music in my life. I could no longer ignore my inner voice that longed to reconnect with music.
Instead of diving back into competitive performance, I realized that helping others to unlock their musicianship was the fulfillment I was looking for.
Now, I’ve never been happier with my relationship to music.
I love helping other people acquire the skills necessary and express themselves musically, whether they want to be a hobbyist or have professional ambitions themselves, whether they want to play by themselves, for friends and families or on stage ~ as long as the process is enjoyable and you are not losing the connection to the reasons why you fell in love with the recorder and music making in the first place!
I am working with each student individually to determine their goals and what steps to take to reach those goals. You don’t have to wait until you’re a star to enjoy yourself! I teach private lessons as well as a variety of group classes, virtually and in person. And I am creating community around the rich and interesting world of the recorder. Getting back to that passion for the recorder and music in general from a place where it is pressure-free is what’s most exciting for me.
