Lifelong engagement with the art of Burkina Faso and of the late Curtis Cuffie.
Curator of African Art, High Museum, 2001-2019. Center for African Art, NYC, 1987-1996. Happily back in NYC now! Curated Radcliffe Bailey: Memory as Medicine with Michael Rooks!
My photo is of Minotaurus by Nandipha Mntambo as it is on view on Skyway Gallery of African art at the High Museum, installed in 2018 when African art finally rose from 2,400 square foot Lower Level space to 5,000 square foot skylit space themed — Art of Ancient Africa: Then and There, Here and Now.

I’m blue-eyed, from a small, small town in Minnesota.
