Bio

It was my many years of teaching home economics in public school, directing overnight camp, designing, producing and selling new products for the home, drawing & painting and working with patients in a hospital setting that gave me the experience I needed for the unpredictable moment that happened on March 1st, 1996, his 18th birthday, when my sweet son, Alex, fell prey to Schizophrenia.

I was just returning from the Chicago Premium show where, out of the 5,000+ companies exhibiting, I’d won an award for my latest new product, Goodie Table Designs.
It was due to Alex, my now ill son, that I’d even designed these dessert centerpieces for his 4th birthday party, so I gave up my new product venture to take care of my Alex.

And during the past 25 years, I’ve documented his health care by the mental health system in journal form, (over 5,000 pages), and am now working on the script for a musical. The premise: Both serious mental illness and childhood sexual abuse play a big part in contributing to homelessness.
