In my experience and perspective, there are plenty of successful (and not successful) people out there who have the traits of warmth and confidence, yet are largely toxic and/or unhealthy for society.

It’s very clear that although it’s not easy to fake confidence, comfort, or enthusiasm, it’s possible that people can develop these traits and tell themself a story that strengthens these traits, but is altogether unhealthy or unsound or just plain useless. Don’t get me wrong, I think these ideas are extremely valuable. I have in mind the fact that people like cult leaders. Or even business leaders who know their products are useless or detrimental but sell them anyway. For example but not limited to, cigarettes.

Have you ever considered what it would mean to reverse engineer these ideas? What I mean is, do you think it would be possible to teach people how to more critically analyze salespeople, leaders and authorities on metrics other than warmth and confidence? I ask this because in a room where somebody is speaking, 99% of those people are not speaking. And the power is in the masses. Would not we enhance the quality of those in charge if we enhanced the ability to curate who we listen to, if we enhanced the personal power of the listeners, of the followers, those whose minds and energies will influence what ideas and plans move forward?
