Bio

Brian has served as Artistic Director at Calgary International Film Festival since October, 2018. Prior to that he served as Artistic Director at Nashville Film Festival for ten years. He founded the Indianapolis International Film Festival (Indy Film Fest) in 2004 and studied film at Indiana University.

Calgary International Film Festival (CIFF) began in 2000 and the inaugural event was attended by 8,000 people. The 2020 festival saw attendance quadruple to over 35,000 for the expanded 11-day festival.

In 2020, CIFF celebrated its 21st year. The showcase of 180 multi-genre feature and short films took place from September 24 to October 4, and for the first time, in addition to physically-distanced in cinema screenings, CIFF’s virtual cinema made selections available to audiences across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.
