🐘 You made it to the end! Here's the fun fact about elephant calves:

Baby elephants suck their trunks like human babies suck their thumbs. Suckling is both comforting and part of the learning process—newborn elephants don't have control over their trunks and must learn how to use them!

I learned this while filming the baby elephants featured in my documentary, A HERD OF ORPHANS (The film is currently available on Vimeo On Demand in case you want to learn more and see some holy moly ele cuteness!) 🐘
