Storyteller inspiring culture change via TV 🌀📺
🙋🏽♂️My story: after a near death experience at 27 I walked away from a cushy career as a suit in the fashion industry to pursue a crazy dream.....I wanted to create TV and film projects that amplify social causes and inspire people to live their best lives.
🧗🏽♂️ It was an uphill battle from the start. Few people in the industry believed in the power of socially impactful storytelling and I had zero experience as a creative or director. But what I did have was faith, and spent the next ten years dedicated to learning everything I could about the art and science of writing/directing for television.
✊🏾 Thankfully, the tides have majorly shifted in Hollywood and the advertising industry. I’ve been blessed to collaborate as a writer and director on projects that have been seen over two billion times, and won/shortlisted over fifty awards: Clio, Emmy, Cannes Lions, Telly, Addy etc.
💥 The core of this work is using mainstream entertainment (scripted, unscripted and branded) as a spotlight for global movement building across a variety of social causes: terminal illness, homelessness, masculinity, food waste, sexual assault, immigration etc.
🌍 To date, these projects have raised millions of dollars for terminal illness research, demystified social taboos, and even helped overturn an unjust Presidential Executive Order in the US.
♥️ Along the way, I co-founded a very special company called Wayfarer Entertainment, which we sold to a family office in early 2019. I also serve as a member of the Television Academy, Directors Guild, and teach a course on storytelling for social impact at Loyola Marymount University.
