My mission π€©:
- To make space a regularly talked about topic like cars, the weather, the next vacationβ¦ ππ¦π
- To help people on their way from seeing space as fiction to being aware of its reality ππ°
- To start a Ph.D. project in space humanities and to further the research and understanding what it means to live in the space age. π
- To spread the word: space is for all of us and it need all of us! π³πΎββοΈπ§π½π§π»π±π»ββοΈπ§π½
Originally, I got my BA degree in marketing π€ΉπΌββοΈ, economics π, and service management π₯, but later went on to get another BA and then MA degree in philosophy π and cultural anthropology ππ©π½.
Having written both my final thesis on questions concerning space and society π, I realized how little research there is into this. We go to space, solve tons of problems, but we rarely pause for a second and ask us, what that actually does to us, our societies and our cultures. βοΈ
Currently, I work as a communications specialist in the engineering industry. However, in my free time, I continue my research. I hope to work on a Ph.D. project π©π½βπ» on space & society π©πΎβπ π rather sooner than later and all the while establishing the scientific field of space humanities β¨.
What are space humanities? Glad you ask. Well, humanities is an umbrella term for academic disciplines that study various aspects of humans, their societies and cultures. Thatβs political and social sciences, cultural studies and more. Putting the βspaceβ π« before that makes clear that we are talking about anything that concerns space & human aspects. If you think about it, thatβs a lot!
