(he/him) NYC / Colorado, ✡️, Software Engineer, Skier, T1D
I normally live in Brooklyn 🗽, but am spending the 2020/2021 winter of COVID in Frisco, Colorado. I work as a Software Engineer 👨🏼💻 for Palantir Technologies. I’m originally from a Boston suburb, did a joint program at Columbia and the Jewish Theological Seminary in NYC for undergrad, then spent six years in Silicon Valley (Palo Alto) before moving to Brooklyn.
I’m a die hard skier ⛷and have been taking advantage of the ski resorts in close proximity to Frisco and the flexibility of remote work. I already have over 1 million vertical feet logged over 40+ days at the Vail resorts. This winter I also picked up cross-country skiing, snowboarding 🏂, fat tire biking 🚵♀️, and snowshoeing, because Colorado.
I’ve been living with Type 1 Diabetes 💉 since dx on March 2nd, 2008. I currently use the t:slim X2 insulin pump with the Control-IQ hybrid closed loop algorithm and Dexcom G6. I have substantial experience with DIY Loop (with Omnipod) as well. I participated in several closed loop clinical trials when I lived near Stanford, including the dual hormone then-named Bionic Pamcreas (now iLet). I’m a member of the NY #insulin4all chapter.
I’m Jewish ✡️ and consider myself a member of the Conservative movement - thanks JTS. I’m involved with “traditional egalitarian” minyanim in Brooklyn, and keep kosher and Shabbat. COVID times have been tough, but I’m looking forward to picking back up with these communities in person in the future for davening and holiday celebrations, hosting and attending meals, etc.
