He has been featured on National Geographic's "Taboo" television series, ABC's "The Doctors," and Hong Kong ATV's "Sam Go Kick" to speak about (and demonstrate!) various types of body modification, and has also appeared in "Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern" and "Joko gegen Klaas – Das Duell um die Welt." He can also be seen in Tanaka Yukio's 2014 documentary "ITECHO." His writings on horror films in Japan can be found in the UK horror mag “SCREAM.”
Dr. Skutlin is deeply involved in Japan's Goth subculture, and has worked together with leading Goth culture journalist / TV host La Carmina (lacarmina.com) on television programming and travel blogging to bring information about the country's rich and fascinating underground scene. He’s done everything from suspension and “bagel head” saline inflation to being MC at goth club events, working the bar at a gothic fetish bar, and serving as set designer for a semi-feature film set in Tokyo.
