Dr. Mathis has experienced several Carnegie classified institutions of higher learning. The continual constant that he observed throughout his tenure was its increasing dependence on technology and social media. With this in mind, he pioneered research that ultimately was useful for his dissertation that cross-examined the influence and impact of social media with recruitment and retention of undergraduate students within colleges in the state of Mississippi. Dr. Mathis is an intentional leader who utilizes data in conjunction with prior institutional trends to redirect and support his decisions in student achievements.
