Dr. Akua Twumasi was born in raised just outside of Chicago in Evanston, IL. She received a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Science Education from the University of Missouri – Columbia in 2010. In 2014, she completed a master’s degree in Educational Leadership at Houston Baptist University. In 2019, Dr. Twumasi graduated from Houston Baptist University with a doctoral degree in Executive Educational Leadership.

Akua served as a high school science teacher and coach for 5 years, spending time in both Kansas City, Missouri & Klein ISD. Since 2015, Akua has served as an Assistant Principal at Aldine ISD’s MacArthur Senior High School. At MacArthur she oversaw several departments including PE/Health, Athletics, Science, CTE, and ESL.

Akua describes herself as a lifelong competitor and learner. She owes her love for sport to her father, who coached her in soccer beginning at age five. Soccer, her forever first love, shares the spotlight from her coaching and officiating days with volleyball, basketball, and football.
Akua will watch any sport at any time but she remains a lifelong, always heartbroken, Minnesota Vikings fan.
